Where Business Begins with People.

Formed in 1999, Alpha Resources focuses on providing timely high quality point-in-time craft compensation data to industrial contractors and plant owners. Through ongoing research, Alpha Resources accurately identifies competitive pay ranges, per diem payments and other monetary incentives for skilled industrial open shop craft workers in many regions of the United States. Periodic research in the Gulf Coast, Southeast, Mid-Atlantic, West Coast and Rocky Mountain regions provides clients with a history of industrial craft compensation trends as well as current pay values.

Wage & Labor Studies

Targeted Solutions

In addition to researching broad regions, we also provide project specific labor studies focused on a single location. These studies usually require travel to the project’s community to identify local factors impacting project execution such as housing availability, competing projects, sources of labor, technical training resources, industrial relations, relevant community issues and more. We assess the level of sensitivity required for each assignment and confidentially conduct these studies for the industrial construction sector providing valuable market intelligence.

Research Methodology

Alpha Resources researches and compiles craft compensation data for five craft discipline categories based on the following benchmark positions:

  1. Civil – Industrial Form Carpenter Journeyman
  2. Mechanical – Industrial Pipefitter Journeyman
  3. Combo Welder – Pipe Welder Journeyman (stick/tig)
  4. Electrical – Industrial Electrician Journeyman
  5. Heavy Equipment Operator – 100 ton+ Crane Operator
The identified wage values are summarized to define the “spread” of all available rates by discipline. Survey results are further narrowed by calculating the average competitive range by discipline for the market area. In many regions, our analysis includes the historical tracking of base wages plus per diem and incentive payments.
